My youngest daughter turned me on to this song. I liked the original by Simon and Garfunkel, but this one is actually amazing. S&G had a softer approach to the song, this singer has a much harder approach. It is excellent! I wasn't sure when it first started... but when it becomes more upbeat it's great

A suite theme for the Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been released as a sneak peek to the film's overall soundtrack. Which has been composed by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL (Mad Max: Fury Road, Deadpool), and it seems that Batman's stuff has been left to the latter half of the duo.
While this little snippet is certainly not on the level of The Dark Knight, I quite liked it upon first hearing it. And in the number of times I've listened to it since then, I've even grown to thinking a great deal of it. It seems a nice counterpart to the theme we heard for Superman in Man of Steel; which was in some parts poignant, in others bombastic. Larger-than-life, energetic and hopeful. Here we have something that's smaller and gloomier, yet angry, hard-hitting and vengeful, completely befitting the nocturnal protector of Gotham City - it is the audible image of Batman stepping out of the shadows to face the devil that came from the sky, and I love it.

I like those Superman tracks Silver...The music is more flowing, in my mind. At first the impression of someone lonely, but then becomes more uplifting.

An Ideal of Hope has the definitive Man of Steel OST sound; of course, it was the track used in the third and, in my opinion, best trailer for the film (actually a shorter version of this track, for those wondering). Fucking breathtaking. But Flight... Flight's a special track. If only because it accompanies the greatest flying scene in the history of comic book movies, and goes all-out, loud and bombastic, even electrically screaming at times on the listener, reminding us that this guy can fucking fly!
Thanks, Silver. You linking these gives me an excuse to listen to them again >.>

So we've been given another snippet of a track from the OST for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Actually, this track was released on January 15th, but I've only listened to it today. It's part of "Their War Here" - which, judging from the title, will feature heavily in the scene where Bruce Wayne witnesses the destruction of Metropolis firsthand. It comes as no surprise then that the music is very reminiscent of that accompanying the action scenes in Man of Steel (which I'm really glad about, because that OST was pretty amazing), yet still has enough difference to it to make it its own unique thing. In a way, I suppose it's as if the scene is shown in a different light; or rather, heard differently. As if from a new perspective. That of Bruce Wayne? It does have somewhat... darker undertones in several places. All in all a great track, in my opinion. But that's coming from someone who's practically in love with the OST for Man of Steel.

Ever have a track that works extremely well in the movie, up to the point of elevating the scenes it accompanies to a certain level of brilliance - yet for some reason it seems to fade from memory, even though it absolutely should not, and make way for the more... hum-able theme of the protagonist; but then you listen to it separately and it blows your mind?
This is that track for me. One of Zimmer's ballsiest in my opinion, and holy fuck does it fit Nolan and Ledger's vision for the Joker perfectly.

And yet another snippet of the soundtrack for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is here to tease us. "The Red Capes Are Coming", referencing of course the closing line of the Comic-Con trailer for the film. Spoken by Lex Luthor himself. A line that carries a lot of meaning (given its obvious similarities to the famous line by Paul Revere - "The redcoats are coming!" - at the start of the American Revolutionary War), and, at least in my mind really embodies the fundamental nature of the character that is Luthor; the learned man, the constant self-improver, the personification of human ambition... you get the idea.
What we have here is thus most likely Luthor's theme, or at least a part of it. When I first heard it I couldn't quite place it; but when viewed in that context, it starts to make sense. At first, it evokes a sense of gravitas, of festering negativity. Villainous intent, I guess you could say. Then the tone switches almost fully to an eerily playful rhythm - bringing to mind the image of a spider spinning its web. I say "almost", because it doesn't quite lose that sense of heavy undertone. And then the video ends, with building tones of a piano overlapping the rest. Strange piece of music, huh? Creepy, really. You can already tell it's a different piece. Very... ambitious for a guy like Hans Zimmer (who I assume is responsible for this particular piece of music, rather than his co-composer Junkie XL). Very befitting of Superman's super-villain; a polymath, the crown jewel of human potential and achievement, yet captivated by a, to quote Amy Adams' Lois Lane, psychotic focus on our hero - or heroes, as this film would have it. An incredible intellectual with a touch of madness. I'm loving it, and really looking forward to hearing what the rest of the track sounds like.
Rest assured, people, this will be the last of my pseudo-intellectual ramblings on the snippets we're getting of the film's OST, and what they bring to mind for me. I won't be listening to any more.
